But how long do women actually need to orgasm?

While men find arousal easier, research shows it takes around 20 minutes for ladies to become aroused.

Then when it comes to partnered sex, a paper found it usually takes about 14-17 for ladies to climax.

Every couple is different, so there isn’t a “right” amount of time to get jiggy – but various sexperts have weighed in on the matter.

A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine asked a group of sex therapists how long they think sex should last.

The panel rated penetrative vaginal sex that lasted from 1-2 minutes as “too short”.

But they believe sex that lasted 10-30 minutes was “too long.”

Three to seven minute romps were seen as “adequate”, while seven to 13 minutes was categorised as “desirable”.

Ultimately, the ideal intimacy timeframe will vary from couple to couple.

The main thing to remember is that a lot of time between the sheets doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll feel more satisfied after.

We’d recommend having an open and honest conversation with your partner about your needs.

You can then explore what works best for you as a pair, which may mean regular quickies or lengthy foreplay sessions.

The most important thing is to have fun!
