IGNOU 2024 B.Ed Application Schedule

The B.Ed. program offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is designed to develop an understanding of teaching and learning. It is a two-year undergraduate-level course that aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in teaching. The program is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and is offered in both English and Hindi medium. The IGNOU B.Ed. program has a well-structured curriculum that covers both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching and learning. The course is divided into four semesters, and the curriculum includes core courses, practical courses, and electives. The core courses cover topics such as educational psychology, pedagogy, and educational technology. The practical courses include teaching practice, internship, and project work. Eligibility:

You should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with at least 50 per cent marks in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto,

And

The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):

(i)   Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.

(ii)  Candidates who have completed an NCTE-recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.

Reservation

The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.

Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the University Rules.

Programme Guide

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course at IGNOU is designed to expose student teachers to the teaching and learning process in secondary and higher secondary schools. The program focuses on providing teachers with opportunities to think critically about educational perspectives and to comprehensively integrate theory and practice to promote active participation of learners in the creation of knowledge.

Exam Pattern

IGNOU B.Ed entrance test is divided into 2 parts Section A and Section B. There will be no negative marking for the wrong answer.
