Topaz is a radiant gemstone available in multiple colors. It is one of the hardest stones among the natural occurring gemstones. Topaz is found in abundance almost everywhere on the earth. The main sources for most of the Topaz in the market are Brazil, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, China, Africa, Australia, Japan and the USA. The rare Pink Topaz, which is also called ‘Imperial Topaz’ or ‘Precious Topaz’, is found in Pakistan and Russia. Topaz is available in a variety of colors such as blue, brown, orange, grey, yellow, green, pink and red. Naturally occurring Topaz is mostly colorless, brown or pale. It is henceforth treated to bring out brighter hues such as yellow, gold, pink or violet. These colors do not fade until exposed to severe conditions. The most common Topaz gem is a lighter blue, but the naturally excavated deep blue Topaz is extremely rare and costly.

People born in November adorn Topaz as their birthstone and the stone is believed to lend abundance and prosperity. These beautiful gems can be used in pendants, rings, necklaces, earrings or even bracelets. The young generation is in love with this gemstone because of its affordability and exoticness. When paired with silver, the grace it lends to the wearer is unmatched. The price of these beauties is determined by their cut, color, carat and availability. Topaz may cost between INR 300 to INR 500 per carat, but as Topaz is found in abundance, the price may go down.

Orange and red topaz stones tend to be on the costlier side due to their lovely sheen. In Vedic theology, it is considered auspicious to gift a Topaz on the fourth wedding anniversary, as it is believed to strengthen the eternal bond between the husband and the wife.
