Step 1:
To begin this guide on drawing a dead tree, we’ll start with the tree’s root. Throughout this drawing, we will use many lines to bark an aged and gnarled look. It’s worth keeping this in mind when drawing these roots, and as you can see in the reference image, we’ll be using curvy, winding lines for the seeds that stick into the ground. Once you’ve drawn these roots as they appear in the example, you’re ready for step 2, so let’s continue!
Step 2:
You’ve started drawing the roots of your dead tree drawing, and now we’re going to finis
it, so it’s ready for the following tree sections. To do this, we will add more curved and rounded lines on the sides of the root base. Again, when it comes to making the tree look older, the more rounded and twisted the lines, the better! This will finish the roots for now, and as we move forward, we will work on the tree trunk.
Step 3:
In this third part of our guide on how to draw a dead tree, we’ll start removing the trunk. We used a lot of rounded lines connecting the tree’s roots, and we’ll use even more for this step. You can add line details to the roots you have already drawn, and these line details will extend to the trunk.
