How does a medical abortion work?
As soon as you learn you are pregnant, you can receive medical abortion treatment, privately and discreetly. Two types of medication are used: mifepristone (Mifeprex or RU-486) and misoprostol (Cytotec) tablets easily available at Abortion pills in Dubai. The first drug, mifepristone, blocks the effects of progesterone, a hormone needed to maintain pregnancy. The second drug, misoprostol, causes the uterus to expel the products of conception. Both are tablets that the patient takes by mouth (orally).abortion pill UAE The drug acts very early in pregnancy and allows you to avoid surgery. It’s a non-invasive option; no surgical instruments are used and no anesthesia is necessary. After the initial visit to the clinic, the process can take place in the privacy of your own home, at a time that is right for you.
Why should I consider a medical abortion?
This is a very personal decision. Many women prefer the option of medical abortion to surgery. A medical abortion can be performed earlier in pregnancy, privately, and discreetly via Abortion pills in Dubai. A medical termination of pregnancy can be performed as soon as you find out you are pregnant and up to 10 weeks after the first day of your last period. It is considered safe and does not pose any long-term risks to future pregnancies. 98% of abortions are successful and non-invasive. They require no preparation and you don’t have to find someone to take you home from the clinic. You can choose to be alone or ask a partner, friend or family member to stay with you
How early in my pregnancy can I have a medical abortion?
You are eligible for a medical termination at Abortion pills in Dubai once a urine pregnancy test shows a positive result. We will conduct a pregnancy test along with other laboratory tests on the day of your visit to the clinic. You don’t need to see your doctor for additional tests before the procedure.
Is a medical abortion safe?
Yes – a medical abortion is very safe. Unless there is a very rare and serious complication that is not treated, there is no risk to future pregnancies or the patient’s health. Having an abortion does not increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer or affecting fertility. Emotional problems after an abortion are rare and are more likely to occur in women who need to terminate a pregnancy for health reasons, in people who lack support, or in people who have a history of mental health problems. Most women feel relief after an abortion.
What is the success rate of medical abortion?
At the Women’s Aid Center, we specialize in non-surgical abortion and have a 98% success rate. Our certified doctors and multilingual medical team ensure you get the treatment you deserve.
What is Mifepristone (Mifeprex or RU 486)?
Abortion pills in Dubai medical abortion Mifepristone (also called Mifeprex or RU-486 and sometimes referred to as the abortion pill) offers women a medical alternative to surgical abortion. More and more women who decide to have an abortion do so with the abortion pill. On September 28, 2000, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved mifepristone for use in medical abortions. It works by blocking the action of progesterone, a hormone needed to maintain pregnancy. Blocking progesterone stops pregnancy growth. After a patient’s pregnancy is confirmed by ultrasound, mifepristone is taken by mouth in the clinic.
What is misoprostol (Cytotec)?
Misoprostol is a drug that causes the uterus to spasm and cause bleeding to push out the pregnancy (miscarriage). It is taken by mouth at home, 48 hours after you are given the mifepristone pill at the clinic. In typical cases, miscarriage occurs within 24 hours.
What should I avoid while taking mifepristone/misoprostol?
Do not take any non-prescription medication, such as herbal or dietary supplements, during the treatment period without first consulting a doctor. You can interfere with the process. Avoid alcohol and do not use tampons. Refrain from sexual intercourse or strenuous exercise until you see your doctor for a follow-up examination.
Do I have to come for a follow-up examination after a medical abortion?
Yes. We will arrange a follow-up appointment at the clinic 2-3 weeks after your procedure. At that point we will carry out all the necessary tests to ensure that you are no longer pregnant.
When should I not have a medical abortion?

- You are severely anemic.
- You have severe bowel problems.
- You are taking blood thinners such as heparin or have a bleeding disorder.

Can you explain the process of the abortion pill to me step by step?
Day 1 – In the clinic
- During your first visit, a member of our medical team will review your medical history.
- You will receive personal advice on the specifics of the process.
- A vaginal ultrasound is performed to determine the exact stage of pregnancy.
- You will then be examined by the doctor, who will give you the pill mifepristone (Mifeprex or RU-486).
Day 3 – At home
- 48 hours later, at home, you take four tablets of misoprostol orally by placing them between your gums and cheek.
- This drug usually produces convulsions in about 2 to 4 hours. Vaginal bleeding typically begins between 1 and 10 hours after the onset of the spasms.
- In most cases, pregnancy is over within 24 hours of the onset of bleeding. Some women shed blood clots when the pregnancy is expelled.
- Prescribed pain relievers or over-the-counter pain relievers like Tylenol or Advil can help with your cramps. Detailed instructions for pain management will be given to you at the clinic.
- Please remember that you are in our care at home, even during the procedure. If you have any questions at any point in your treatment, do not hesitate to give us a call.
2-3 weeks later – follow-up examination
A typical medical abortion is about 98% effective. A follow-up visit to the clinic in 2-3 weeks is necessary to ensure that the termination is complete.
This visit includes a urine test, pelvic exam, and in some cases an ultrasound to determine you are no longer pregnant.
If this visit shows that the abortion was not complete (which occurs in only 2% of cases), a surgical abortion is performed to terminate the pregnancy.
It is possible to get pregnant again very quickly after your termination. Your follow-up appointment is a good time to talk to our medical team at Abortion center in Dubai about the birth control method that’s right for you. You can start your new birth control method right away.
