Oil field equipment is used in nearly every stage of the oil and gas exploration and production process. This equipment includes everything from deep hole drill bits and string packers to directional drilling equipment and well platforms. These tools are essential for gathering data and creating the infrastructure to get the oil and gas out of the ground and into the pipelines. The more efficient oil companies are at finding oil and gas deposits and extracting it from the ground the better their financial return will be. They allow a well to be drilled thousands of feet underground and then bring the hydrocarbons up to the surface through different pipes.

When a well has been drilled, the oil field equipment is used to extract the oil and gas from the ground. This equipment includes the drilling rig and downhole pumps. Downhole pumps are used to pull up the hydrocarbons, and the oil and gas are then transported through pipelines to refineries and other oil fields where they can be converted into usable products. Drilling rigs are used to extract oil and gas from wells, and many different types of rigs exist for different types of wells.
