DOTA 2 Removes 5 Teams from DPC China, What’s the Reason?

Organizers of the DOTA 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) China, Perfect World, announced that they have excluded 5 DOTA 2 teams from DPC China 2023 Tour 2. These teams were excluded for “breach of esports integrity”.

Teams affected by this decision include Antartic Penguins (formerly Knights), EHOME, Solitude (formerly Dawn Gaming), Kylin Esports Club (formerly LBZS), and Team Mystique.

The exclusion of these teams was the result of the team’s relationship with a player who was found guilty of cheating in a professional competition. The teams that were issued came from divisions I and II.

Now, DPC China 2023 Division I will consist of the following teams:

PSG. LGD
Team Aster
Xtreme Gaming
Invictus Gaming
Aster. Aries
Outsiders From CN
Ybb Gaming
Vici Gaming
Meanwhile, Division II only has 2 teams remaining, namely:

Poke Gaming
Meteor Gaming
Later, 6 teams will take part in the DPC China 2023 Tour 2: Division II qualification round through an open qualifier starting on March 15.

Earlier on the same day, Valve and Perfect World issued a statement blocking 46 Chinese DPC players who were accused of match-fixing and cheating.

This blocking will prevent affected players from participating in DOTA 2 tournaments organized by Valve or Perfect World in the future.

Valve Blocks 40,000 Cheater Accounts in DOTA 2!

In order to create a fair and clean gaming ecosystem, Valve announced that they have permanently banned more than 40 thousand cheater accounts from DOTA 2.

Valve has succeeded in presenting a new method in an effort to detect and punish cheaters.

According to its latest blog, Valve announced that they have permanently banned more than 40,000 accounts as part of an ongoing cleanup effort to fix various issues that allowed cheats to thrive.

“Today, we permanently blocked over 40,000 accounts that used third-party software to cheat on Dota over the last few weeks. […] While fixing the underlying issues that allowed cheats to occur is a priority, we have also decided to remove these ‘bad players’ from Dota’s active player base.” wrote Valve.

In addition, Valve also announced that they have actively used the ‘honeypot’ in their latest patch which will have a set of data that can only be read by accounts using cheats.

Any suspicious account that triggers the secret area will have its details added to the database, where Valve will check and block based on the information available.

Valve also realizes that the fight against cheaters will be very difficult and long. Even so, they will still try their best to eradicate cheaters from their game.

“While the battle against cheaters and cheat developers often takes place in the shadows, we wanted to make this example visible, and use it to make our position clear: If you run any app that can read data from the Dota client while you’re playing a game, your account can permanently banned from Dota. This includes professional players, who will be banned from all Valve competitive events.”

DOTA 2 will soon receive a major update in March.

Valve as the developer of DOTA 2 has finally confirmed the release date of patch 7.33 which will feature a new hero named Muerta. The update is expected to arrive on March 6, 2023, right after the 2023 Major Five ends.

Of course, this patch is expected to be a major update which is generally done post TI. What’s more, it has been postponed to the Five Majors where there will definitely be more details in the game.

A striking update that will be present in the latest patch is the presence of Muerta, who has been widely discussed since The International 2022. Even though the information about this hero is not complete, the picture is clear.

Several other updates are expected to lie in map changes and hero adjustments to provide meta balance in March.

While there are no further details about Muerta’s character and abilities, this hero is predicted to be closely related to Ethereal status. One of the items that will stick with him is the Revenant Brooch which allows the hero to attack Ethereal targets.

Looking at the image of him holding a firearm, Muerta also seems to be a Ranged hero based on his looks. However, fans will soon find out more details on March 6.

The start of the year was less than pleasant for BOOM Esports DOTA 2 after they were relegated to division 2 DPC SEA 2023 Tour 1. Many assumed that the roster would change due to the unsatisfactory results. However, the CEO of BOOM Esports immediately denied this.

Gary “natshuba” Ongko as the CEO of BOOM Esports tweeted a clarification that BOOM would not expel a single player from its DOTA 2 roster. He said that the community should be more relaxed about this.

As BOOM’s run on the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 1: Division 1 has just ended, discussions about the future of the team and roster have started buzzing on social media.

The BOOM CEO who saw this immediately gave a statement about the future of his DOTA 2 roster. He immediately denied that there would be a roster change after being relegated to division 2.

Before DPC 2023 started, BOOM lost several core players such as Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong, Rolen “skem” Ong, and Timothy “TIMS” Randrup.

BOOM then brought in Yap “xNova” Jian Wei, John “Natsumi-” Vargas, and Kenny “Xepher” Deo to complete the new roster in 2023.

Even though on paper the BOOM roster has a lot of potential, they failed to perform optimally. In the last tour, they only won 2 matches and the rest were decorated with defeats.

Although management has now announced that they will not remove players from the squad, this decision could still be changed until BOOM returns to play in Division 2 DPC SEA which will take place in the coming months.

The decision to leave the team is also not entirely in the hands of management. Players may leave the team in search of better opportunities.
