He is the Founder & Director of Consocia Advisory (Consocia Advisory, 2022) a Management Consulting Firm which he started in the year 2017. The firm specializes in Reputation Management, Policy Advocacy, Crisis Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Sustainability, Business Development, and Marketing programs. He is presently the Chairperson of the Ind Food and Beverages Association (ICMR-NIN and IFBA join hands, 2022) and Secretary General of India Honey Alliance (India Honey Alliance, 2022).
With a career spanning over 38 years across top Multinational companies like Unilever, PepsiCo, Godfrey Philips, Bharti Airtel, and The Coca-Cola Company[i], he is recognized as an industry leader in the areas of Policy Advocacy, Crisis Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Sustainability, and Marketing programs.

Deepak expanded the vision of direction & strategies to develop new business categories and create partnership models to influence public policy, build a positive corporate reputation, and new sales distribution models.

He possesses a strong business and marketing acumen with a clear sense of purpose and urgency when faced with diverse situational challenges. His diverse experience in FMCG sales/marketing enables him to partner with cross-functional senior-management teams and quickly reverse strategies to ensure continued progress towards corporate goals.

Early Life

Deepak Jolly was born in Ferozepur in a Punjabi family[ii] and did his schooling at Springdales School, New Delhi. He did his Graduation in Hotel Management from Pusa, Delhi[iii] and he is also a B.Com graduate from Delhi University. He completed his Advanced Management Program (AMP Batch 69) from Wharton, the University of Pennsylvania.

His father Mr. Kanwar Sain Jolly (Veteran journalist passes away, 2019) was a leading journalist with Press Trust India (PTI) and his mother was an educationist and was the principal of a Girls’ school in Delhi

Career

Hotel Industry (1984-1988)

Deepak started his career as a management trainee at ITDC in 1984 and Joined as a PR manager at Le Meridien New Delhi in 1987.

Unilever (1988-1995)

As Manager Sales, he headed the business of key accounts for canteen stores department which was over INR 2.5 billion in 1994, Managed sales, logistics, inventory, the introduction of new products, and management of working capital for the account.

As a Communication Manager, he managed internal communications and strategic corporate communications on mergers and acquisitions, He handled communications of financial results and investor relations. As a Government Affairs Manager, he engaged with stakeholders from the government, elected representatives, and media, He worked on public policy.

PepsiCo (1995-2002)

As Executive Vice President, he was a part of the Leadership Council and reported to the President and CEO of the company for 7 years. He developed a robust communication strategy and policy for the company, He Coached and Managed the Senior Management Team on Crisis Communications successfully.

He also developed and executed an internal communication plan for the company which included different periodicals, books, magazines, etc.

Godfrey Philips (2002)

As Director of Corporate Affairs, he was a part of the Leadership Council and reported to the Managing Director. He led Strategic Public Affairs and Communications for the group, and engaged stakeholders on Public Policy.
Member of Tobacco Association of India

Bharti Airtel (2003-2005)

As a Director of Corporate Communications, he was a part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Managing Director and Chairman. Developed the communication strategy of the telecom major with a vision to become Top 5 Telecom Companies in the World. Significantly enhanced corporate reputation helped in mergers and developed communication plans for integrating top global partners like Ericson and IBM with the company operations.
Developed PAN-India footprint for communication to deal with crisis management, stakeholder engagement, ongoing issues in the telecom industry, and internal communications for a company which was the fastest growing in India and had a workforce of 25,000 in 2005

Coca-Cola India & South-West Asia (2005-2017)

As VP of Public Affairs and Communications for India and South West Asia, he headed five verticals – Corporate Communications, Public Policy, Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability, Consumer Response, and Corporate Security including Incident Management and Crisis management. (Deepak Jolly has formally joined Coca-Cola India, 2005)

In 2015 Deepak moved into a new role as VP of Venturing and emerging brands (VEB), he Led the expansion of the company’s Premium and Emerging Product Portfolio through different business models. Develop an alternate Route to Market in India and integrate supply chain and marketing for the company’s new developing Emerging Brands.  Awards and Recognition

From Jan 2001 to June 2002-: He was the key management committee member of FICCI CARE which raised 26 million dollars for the Rehabilitation of Earthquake victims under the Gujarat Rehabilitation Project[iv]. The Project was launched by then Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Narendra Modi. (India Largest disaster rehabilitation Programme, 2020)

2020: His company Consocia Advisory was awarded KALEIDO 20 Award for the ‘Best Emerging Agency’.[viii]

2021: He was recognized amongst the Top 100 Influential Game Changers List 2021 by Exchange 4 Media.[ix]

Deepak is credited to have created several Industry associations such as the Indian Beverages Association, India Honey Alliance, Action alliance on Recycling Beverage Carton, and Ind Food & Beverage Association. He was instrumental in creating a large branded social program for schools in 2010 when he worked with Coca-Cola India Pvt Ltd called “Support My School”.[x]

 Personal Life

Deepak is married to Vaishalee, who is a qualified Microbiologist and a professional food blogger cum certified Corporate Soft Skill Trainer. They have two sons Sahil who is based in the US and is a Partner with LEVRO and Sagar who is based in Bangkok working for Agoda as a Manager-Partner Programs.
