An “Ausbildung” (apprenticeship) is a vocational training programme that combines classroom instruction and on-the-job training in Germany. It usually takes two to three and a half years to complete and results in a recognised vocational certification.

You must have completed at least nine years of compulsory education, or have an equivalent degree, to begin an Ausbildung. Additionally, you will need to locate a company who is open to hiring you as an apprentice. You may accomplish this by submitting an application directly to businesses or through the Bundesagentur für Arbeit in Germany.
You will normally split your time during your Ausbildung roughly in half between working for your job and taking lessons at a vocational school. You’ll be paid a wage for your work, which usually rises as you progress through your training.

You will take a final test at the conclusion of your Ausbildung to see if you have the skills and knowledge required to get your vocational certificate. With this certification, you have the option of staying with your current company or searching for employment in your field elsewhere.

Numerous areas, including skilled crafts, healthcare, information technology, and more, provide ausbildung programmes. They have a high value in Germany and can serve as a reliable base for a successful career.
