If you want to Order Custom Dog Portraits of your pet, we will need some high-quality photos to work from. We want to make sure that your finished portrait is the best it can be and that it shows your pet’s unique personality. Getting this done depends on me choosing the right photos to work from.
When choosing reference photos of your pet, there are a few things you need to think about. First and foremost, they should show the personality of your pet and show them the way you like them best. Then there are the technical parts, which we will talk about in more detail below.
This guide will go over the most important parts to help you choose the best one for your portrait.
Your Pet’s Personality
We’re sure that there’s something about the way your pet looks or acts that makes your heart melt. Or has some cute traits that you really like. It could be his cute ears, her kind eyes, or his happy smile. Keep these things in mind when you choose or take pictures of your pet, because those are the pictures that will help me get a good likeness of your pet in your portrait.
Good Lighting
When you take the Best Custom Dog Portraits, lighting is one of the most important things to think about. When images are too dark or too bright, it’s hard for me to see all the little details. Try to take pictures of your pet in natural light, so we can see the real colors of its fur. The lighting inside can sometimes change the way colors look, so take pictures outside or near a good source of natural light, like a big window.
Capturing Details
We can make your portrait look more real if we can see more details in your photos. Make sure that any photos you send us are high quality and in focus. Make sure that the eyes and the direction of the fur can be seen clearly. Choose pictures of your pet that were taken fairly close to him or her. This will help you get lots of details in your photo. When you zoom in on your picture, if everything looks fuzzy, it will be hard for me to work from it.
Angle and Pose
You can send me photos from any angle you want. This gives me a better picture of your pet as a whole. In general, pictures of your pet look best when you take them at eye level with them. This keeps you from getting that strange “big head, small body” look when you take a picture of your pet from below.
Your pet’s personality has a lot to do with the pose you choose. There are a lot of good poses for pet portraits, and we’ve given you some ideas with the good reference photos below. In the end, you should choose a pose that you think best shows off your pet’s personality and beauty.
Harnesses, Collars and Leads
Please let us know if there are parts of your chosen photo that you’d rather I leave out of your portrait. Most of the time, we can take off collars, harnesses, leads, and name tags if you want us to. We can also get rid of tear stains, dirt from muddy noses, and grey hairs, if you want your older pet to look younger.
More Than One Pet in Your Portrait
If you’re really lucky, you might have a picture that shows all of your pets in a good way. If so, then hurrah! Most of the time, though, it can be hard to get each pet to look perfect in the same picture. We can make a portrait of your pets together from separate photos of each one, as long as your photos meet the requirements below.
Perspective
Make sure that most of the photos you send us of each pet are taken from about the same angle. For example, if you have a photo of one pet taken at floor level and a photo of another pet taken while standing and looking down, the two photos won’t work together in the same portrait. It would be fine if both pictures were taken from the floor or from a standing position.
Lighting Direction
Try to get each pet’s light to come from the same direction. If you have a picture of one pet where the light is coming from the right and a picture of another pet where the light is coming from the left, the two pictures together will look a little strange.
