Ramadan is almost here, just a month away. Muslims all over the world are excited to welcome this holy month with high spirits and full zest. Many people consider it an ideal opportunity to visit religious places and perform Umrah, asking Allah for forgiveness. They start looking up different Umrah packages with flights and take the decision accordingly. While those at home perform different religious rites to please Allah and benefit from this month as much as they can.
The first day of Ramadan might be tiring and might seem a bit long. Waiting for Iftar, you might end up checking the time again and again. Whereas, the rest of the days just pass away in a while, letting you make the best out of this month.
Throughout Ramadan, the doors of hell are closed and satan is chained. Muslims should not indulge themselves in a dull and drab routine. Rather, they should focus on obeying Allah and utilize this month productively. Ramadan is the best time of the year for our self-analysis.
If we are fasting, but still indulged in all the wrongdoings, all of our efforts will not only go wasted, but we will witness no change in ourselves, before and after Ramadan. We should just stop wrong deeds and perform an immediate self-check.
TOP FACTORS TO CONSIDER FOR AMENDMENT IN RAMADAN
Those setting on a spiritual Umrah journey will immediately catch up on the best Umrah packages with flights. Whereas, Muslims at their homes will try their best to give up on the negative habits. After performing a thorough self-analysis this month, we will be able to fully understand where we are currently standing, in terms of both religion and moral values. In this manner, we will be able to analyze how good we are, as a person, and as Muslims as well.
In this post, we are going to discuss 5 basic practices that each Muslim should take into account for amendment in the month of Holy Ramadan.
-
ENVY (HASSAD)
When a person becomes jealous of anything positive or worth praising in the other person’s life, this comes under envy.
Considered one of the biggest sins, it is forbidden and highly disliked by Allah. It is up to Allah to bless anyone he likes. We are indirectly questioning His wisdom when we start envying others for what they have been blessed with. That is why it is considered one of the major causes of evilness and is strictly forbidden in Islam.
2. HATRED (BUGHAZ)
We live in a world where negative emotions take no time to originate. People start hating each other over small, worldly matters. Considered one of the root causes of affecting our hearts, Bughaz or hatred is when we start hating the other person for some specific negative reasons.
In our hatred, we start even crossing the limits and hurt the other person directly or indirectly as much as we can. Every time we see the other person, our heart gets filled with too much hate. In doing so, we are damaging ourselves as a person, and questioning our integrity and well-being.
The best thing we can do is, to communicate. By doing so, we can clear out any misunderstandings and forgive the other person without holding any grudge in our hearts. Emptying our hearts from negative emotions is the best thing to do. This Ramadan, we can make a promise to stay as positive and empathetic as we can.
3. MISERLINESS (KANJOOSI)
Miserliness is when a person refuses to take out a portion of his wealth, for fulfilling what Allah has made compulsory. Taking out from wealth doesn’t mean decreasing it. Rather, it can put more Barkah in it, if you take part in charity, or spend your wealth on a good cause. Allah always admires those who give. There is no benefit to piling heaps of money, as each person no matter how rich he is, will go empty-handed in the grave.
We should be as generous as we can and help the poor, needy people with whatever we have been blessed with.
4. THE LOVE OF THIS WORLD
In our love for this temporary world, we have almost forgotten that this will be soon over to us. The moment that we die, our world is over, leaving all the materialistic things in the world. The only thing we take along, are our deeds, whether good or bad. These deeds are the entire crux of our lives. Therefore, we should always keep death in mind, the biggest reality of our life. In this manner, we will be more careful about how we spend our current life and will consider ourselves accountable for our actions.
If love for this world takes a person closer to Allah, it is highly appreciable. It is a matter of concern for us if this love has not made us better human beings. According to our religion Islam, we are encouraged to spend a simple life and be content with what Allah has blessed us with.
5. OSTENTATION/ SHOWING OFF (RIYAKARI)
Showing off anything, just for the sake of fame, is strictly prohibited in our religion. For instance, if you are doing something good just to show off, and the main motive is not to please Allah, it comes under Riya. Our intentions always matter whenever we perform any good deed. Sometimes we get too indulged in doing the deed that we forget the actual reason behind it.
It is always recommended to question yourself about the main purpose, before doing anything good. We should always make a sincere Dua to Allah, for acceptance of our deeds. This Ramadan, we should take a pledge not to get indulged in any wrongdoings and show off.
VERDICT
Ramadan is ideal for seeking as many blessings of Allah as we can. We can take different Umrah packages with flights, to ask for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness, and for purifying our souls. Similarly, we should refrain from all the bad habits, that make us bad Muslims. Let’s all vow to utilize this Ramadan positively, for an improved life and a blessed hereafter.
